Another game idea from a dream. Dream details start with a &, editorializing starts with a &&
& assertive young woman is protag. lives in a world where all of civilization lives on the side of a mountain. Below is the sea: implied to be dangerous, or infinite. Above the mountain stretches on forever. There as some flat mesa like parts but most things are built into the wall.
& Starting town is quaint and idyllic. To the right, the trail ends: no paths, flat walls, suicide to try and climb it, no idea how far you'd go before you saw anything. Up the mountain: successively more and more dangerous dinosaurs. To the left: a path alongside the cliff wall that leads onwards, around the mountain, where new stuff is.
& goal of plucky girl, and small not too effectual militia is to head around the mountain in search of a city bot: a robot the size of a city. Not really sure why
& first thing encountered along the trail: a wooden japanese hotel looking thing, that is built like 5-6 stories high.
& On entering the place and trying to enter higher floors, there's some other war force encountered, way outnumbered the main group, that occupies the roof and upper floors. Lead by some guy that isn't agressive, but not friendly either. Greasy and conniving, mean smile. Says they can pass, but only by taking the first floor.
&& world building: have them have a conversation, protag can ask questions. The house's builder, no one knows.
&& enemy leader is suave but cruel, wears a goatee, maybe is cruel towards his soldiers somewhat
&& don't actually fight between them, keep it pg?
& the building spirals upwards as it goes outward, and the floor on the lower floors starts to become rotted.
& protag, who has red ponytails btw, falls through a hole. Here revealed that one member of the militia was interested in her romantically, torn up about it. & Rather than falling all the way to the sea, some worm arm things catch her, and she climbs her way, sans militia, to a nearby town, Japanese paper walls kinda thing, docks and stuff even.
&& touching scene where the two reach out to each other. The worm things should make an echo-y hollow plastic tube sound when hit/grabbed
& time skip, point of view of a militia person, implied to be son of original guy that had the hots for the protag.
& scene, a flower filled nice grass land, but covered in war, smoke and fires, broken robots
& militia man comes across red haired woman, wielding a unique weapon, marking her as the same protag from earlier. She's notably older now, in her 30s maybe. They meet and confirm each others identities, and move forward together
&& when asking if the girl is who they think they are, scene of only her mouth as she turns in surprise
&& long pause, wide shot showing more of the smoke and fires
&& from guys view, a few frames of inverted color where her eyes are wild, surprised, dangerous, before recognition
&& from her view, a short animation of soft warm faced militia leader, dreamy qualities to imply its a memory, white borders, slower animation. Smiling warmly, Has stubble, white out to current person, younger looking, clean faces, more up an at 'em kind of happy but determined face
&& establish the familiarity and lack of familiarity in dialog between the two
&& weapon she's wielding is a weird wrench? A double barreled thing?
& another time skip, girl, on her own again. With an enforcer, like the militia people we've seen but different in temperment: not hostile, but not friendly. Cold. Revealed: girl has made it to a city bot, and this is where the trail ends: no more path, flat wall
&& maybe have curtains pulled aside, revealing they are on the city bot now.
& convo is tense: girl wants the city bot, but the people there are using it, living on it.
&& Idea: there is a smaller robot in the city, size of a person, robot that has a personality.
&& Smaller robot only needs solar for energy, doesn't get tired otherwise.
&& For a reason, he agrees to help the protag, and equipped with mountaineering stuff, makes his way forward, along the shear cliff line
&& Idea is to get back to the original town, assuming this is the same flat cliff from the beginning
.&& It takes tgem many days, weeks even. Once he finds a cave to chill in, to sharpen his tools. Once, he is attacked by pterodactyls or maybe large birds.
&& Eventually he makes it back to the original town, but his steel pick axes and stuff is worn the fuck down. He can't make a return trip until he gets replacements, which only exist at the city bot, advanced tech there.
&& Robot Relays news about the city bots existence to the town, describes situation... And starts a retread of the original path the protag took?
&& interesting reframing: Lose sense of time, since the robot doesn't visibly age, though they do get wear and tear, play around with parallels.
&& Another idea: play with perspectives. Maybe after the tense meeting with the city bot militia guy, prompt to get up out of seat. But if you don't use it, protag gets up and leaves, and camera hangs on the guard? Play as them?
&& Maybe there is a hole in the side of the mountain at the starting town, a charging station for city bot. Holy pilgrimage vibes
